Why CUET is Different from Boards
Sabse badi mistake jo students karte hain, woh ye hai ki unhe lagta hai "Jo CBSE ke liye padha hai, wahi CUET mein aayega." Syllabus mostly same (NCERT) ho sakta hai, but Approach 100% alag hai.
Section-Wise Mastery Plan
CUET exam is broadly divided into 3 sections. Har section ki preparation strategy bilkul distinct hoti hai.
1. Section I: Language (English/Hindi)
Language test tumhari vocabulary, grammar, aur Reading Comprehension (RC) par focus karta hai. Ise raat-o-raat nahi seekha ja sakta.
- Read Daily: Roz ek newspaper editorial (The Hindu, Indian Express) ya koi acchi book padho. Reading speed is crucial because you have limited time to solve 40 out of 50 questions.
- Vocab Building: Word Power Made Easy (Norman Lewis) ek acchi resource hai. Daily 10 naye words unke synonyms/antonyms ke sath apni pocket diary mein likho.
- Grammar Rules: Parts of speech, figures of speech, idioms, and phrases ki regular practice karo.
2. Section II: Domain Subjects (Core Subjects)
This is where your Class 12 knowledge comes into play. For Commerce students (Accounts, Eco, BST), Science (PCM/B), and Humanities, NCERT is the ultimate authority.
- Read Between the Lines: NTA direct questions nahi poochta. Assertion-Reasoning, Match the following, and chronology-based questions aate hain. NCERT ke boxes, graphs, aur summaries ko dhyaan se padho.
- Deleted Syllabus Matters: Boards mein jo chapters delete ho gaye the, NTA unhe CUET syllabus mein include karta hai. Unhe ignore mat karna!
- Short Notes for Quick Revision: Formulas, dates, author names, aur key definitions ke flashcards ya 1-page short notes banao. (You can check out our ExamSpark Premium Notes).
3. Section III: General Test (GT)
Many top universities (like BHU and certain DU courses) mandate the General Test. It covers Quants, Reasoning, and Current Affairs.
- Quantitative Aptitude: Class 8th level ki Maths aati hai (Percentages, Profit/Loss, Time & Work). Calculation speed fast karne ke liye squares (1-30), cubes (1-20), aur fraction values yaad karo.
- Logical Reasoning: Blood relations, coding-decoding, series, and direction sense. Roz 20-30 questions practice karna is the only way to master this.
- Current Affairs & Static GK: Last 6 months ke current affairs zaroori hain. Important awards, sports events, CM/Governors, aur First in India padho.
The ExamSpark 4-Step Action Plan
| Phase | Timeline | Primary Action |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1: Syllabus Completion | Till Jan/Feb 2026 | Focus entirely on deep-reading NCERT. Don't worry about mock scores yet. Clear your fundamental concepts. |
| Phase 2: Board Exam Overlap | Feb - March 2026 | Board exams ki tyari karo, par MCQs solve karna mat chhodo. 80% CUET domain syllabus yahin cover ho jayega. |
| Phase 3: The CBT Mock Phase | April 2026 | Strictly give computer-based tests. Offline OMR sheet practice CUET ke liye waste hai. Learn time management on a screen. |
| Phase 4: Revision & Weakness Fix | May 2026 | Analyse mocks. Jo topics galat ho rahe hain, sirf unhi ke notes dobara padho. |
How to Handle Negative Marking & Normalization
CUET mein +5 for correct and -1 for incorrect answer hota hai. Ek galat tick tumhe hazaaro rank peeche dhakel sakta hai.
- The 50-50 Rule: Agar 4 mein se 2 options eliminate kar diye hain, toh risk lo (attempt it). Agar charo options ajeeb lag rahe hain, strictly LEAVE IT.
- Normalization Process: CUET multiple shifts mein hota hai. Agar tumhari shift ka paper tough aaya, toh NTA scores normalize karke badha deta hai. So don't panic if the paper looks hard; it's hard for everyone. Just maintain your accuracy!
